Ohio School Uses Students To Haul Away Asbestos Materials

In Northeast Ohio, a group of students volunteered during the weekends to help renovate an old building that is expected to become their new school. The Buckeye Education School located in Middleburg Heights is now under a criminal investigation for exposing the group of teenagers to hazardous asbestos materials. Asbestos was found within the pipes, insulation, duct fabric and floor tiles that the students carried to a nearby dumpster.

Reuters Releases Article Surrounding Asbestos Troubles For Travelers Cos

Reuters, a news agency based out of New York City, recently released an article stating that Travelers Cos (a prominent insurance company) “put 25 percent more into its asbestos claim reserves this year than it did last year”. As stated in their quarterly report, “While the Company believes that over the past several years there has been a reduction in the volatility associated with the Company’s overall asbestos exposure, there nonetheless remains a high degree of uncertainty with respect to future exposure from asbestos claims.”

Reuters continued to state that although claims may be increasing, there has been a reduction of asbestos-related diseases due to treatment.
